2019 Greece Film Diary

I love taking photos in Greece. As a matter of fact, virtually all of the photos on this website and on Hellenic Aesthetic’s Instagram account were taken by me. I think many people would agree that Greece is one of the most photogenic destinations in the world. The internet is saturated with photos of Santorini’s blue domed churches, the Parthenon, and Mykonos’ famous windmills.

In this fast paced modern world, we have the ability to snap a photo anytime anywhere, and share it very quickly. But to me, that type of photography doesn’t serve the landscape or lifestyle of Greece. That’s why I purchased a 35mm film camera this summer. When I shoot film I don’t rush. I take a moment to compose my photo, say a little prayer that it turns out, and I go about my day. Weeks later after I’ve sent the film off to be processed I am again reunited with the moment I set out to capture. It’s rewarding, nostalgic and fun. I hope you enjoy looking at these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
